Curational Idea

Interakcje is a well established Performance Art Festival, known all over the world, and has been showing contemporary performance art on a high level for 17 years. I feel highly honoured to be chosen as curator of the next edition.
My concept as curator is to continue with strong performances. I will invite international artists to show their works for the first time at Interakcje. Most of them will be new for the Polish audience. It is the image of a fresh wind blowing new flavour from abroad that will merge with the well-known local one, so that something third arises and everybody will be enchanted.
Encounters make people happy, similar to good food. Besides the moments of encounter and exchange among performance artists the connection between artists and the public is equally important to the growth of performance art and also to appreciation, critical acclaim and development of ones own artwork.
My goal is to invite artists with different backgrounds and various approaches of Art Practice (e.g. political, theatrical, minimalistic performance). All the artists are relevant and important for the contemporary art scene. I have been following all of them for years and their works are touching my heart.
Gordian Piec invites the polish artists. Volunteers will be assisting the artists and will draw and write about what they see during the performances. It will be an enrichment to have the perspectives of these young people and to show their drawings and writings to the public.
