Wathiq Al-Ameri (born 1972 in Baghdad) is a renowned Iraqi-Swiss interdisciplinary artist and performer. Fleeing the regime of Saddam Hussein, he settled in Zurich in 1997, where he graduated from the F+F School of Art and Design.
In his work, he focuses on the themes of geopolitics, war, exile, and historical memory. His pieces are deeply poetic, often using iconic symbols (such as Iraqi carpets, uniforms, helmets, or red roses) to move viewers' emotions across language barriers.
