Paweł Janicki

(b. 1974) He draws primarily from the achievements of music, contemporary and media art, and posthumanist practice - while constructing forms that differ from those that have come before. He employs a wide spectrum of techniques, approaches, and protocols: he creates works that utilize synthetic senses, programming techniques - including their modern, cognitive incarnations - and elements of spatial and material engineering. Historical and contemporary contexts play a significant role in Janicki’s work - in particular, the perceived history of art and what might be called the history of thought.

Janicki is affiliated with the WRO Art Center, where he serves on the curatorial board, and has recently collaborated with institutions such as the Funken Academy, Fraunhofer IWU, and the pan-European ArtCast4D/AAASeed project. This year (2024), Janicki is also the curator of the Polish Pavilion at the Gwangju Biennale in South Korea. Previous collaborations and institutional presentations include NASA (USA), Ars Electronica (Austria), Transmediale (Germany), the Sapporo International Art Festival (Japan), and Khoj (India). The Algorithms Association cites his network performances as key events in the development of this art form.
