Crossing the genre boundaries between video installation, video art, art-film, art-documentary, or experimental film, the sense of duration, and the complexity of time and space, go beyond the dramaturgy of conventional linear film and form the basis of my movement within the field of the moving image. In my artistic work, I use the camera as a sensitive tool to examine the complexity of human existence, perception, and the way we view the world. I am fascinated by the clash of the real and the imagined, creating art on the borderline of aesthetic perception, analytical penetration, and ethical responsibility. I attempt to create new, emotional, and physical spaces that are points of reference and vanishing points in equal measure. In the film "The Clouds Flow Over Us" (89 min. 2018), I ask questions about the burden and repetitiveness of history, about origin, memory, and forgetting. It is an attempt to record the highly complex history and experiences of the Jewish population, displaced persons from the Eastern Borderlands, and the German minority, who define the identity of a small town with the resonant name of Dobrodzień in southern Poland, between Częstochowa and Opole. The film is also my return to the places, untold stories, and images that I remember from my childhood, and which only now I am beginning to understand.
