Serge Pey was born in 1950 to a working-class family in the Hers district of Toulouse. A child of immigration and civil war in Spain, he spent his free youth by crossing anti-Maquists and revolutionary movements that shook the earth. An activist against the war in Vietnam, he actively participated in the events of May and June in 1968.

In 1975 he founded Émeute and later on, in 1981, the publishing house of Tribu.
Willing to cooperate with the distribution of nomadic publishing, Tribu published under it’s direction authors such as Bernard Manciet, Jean-Luc Parant, Gaston Puel, Rafaël Alberti, Dominique Pham Cong Thien, le Sixième Dalaï Lama, Allen Ginsberg, Ernesto Cardenal, Armand Gatti and Henri, have been willing to cooperate with the nomad distribution.
