Born in 1939 in Poznań is one of the leading Polish multimedia artists, photographer, author of films, paintings, installations, photography cycles and joint actions. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, the history of art and museology, and at the Cinematography Department of the Film School in Łódź, where in 1970-1981 he was a lecturer and head of the Department of Photography and Visual Advertising. He is a co-founder of many experimental artistic groups, including photographic Zero-61 (1961-1969) and Film Form Workshop (1970-1977). Organizes exhibitions and reviews, among others Cinema-laboratory 1973, Nieme Kino I-II, 1983-1984, Lochy of Manhattan 1989, Żywa Galeria 1998. Since 1978, he has run a private Exchange Gallery. He was an active participant in the so-called CULTURE OF DISCHARGE, underground artistic life during martial law. He initiated the 2001 Katarzyna Kobro’s prize.
