Curatorial idea
Interactions is a performance art festival known all over the world, where performance art has been presented at a high level for 17 years. Being a curator of the next edition is a special honor for me. My curatorial concept is based on the continuation of strong performances. I invite international artists taking part in Interactions for the first time to present their works. Most of them will be new to the Polish audience. This will create a mixed picture: a breath of freshness, new tastes from abroad with the well-known local one. So there will be a third quality that will charm everyone.
Meetings keep people happy, and so does good food. Apart from the moments of meetings and exchanges between the performers, the connections between the artists and the audience are equally important for the growth of performance art, but also for recognition, critical reflection and the development of the artistic work of each participant.
My goal is to invite artists with different experiences and approaches to artistic work (e.g. political, theater or minimalist performance). All artists are essential and important to the contemporary art scene. I have watched them all over the years and these works touch my heart.
Gordian Piec invites Polish artists. Volunteers will draw and write down what they see during the performances. The perspective of these young people will be an additional enrichment, and their drawings and notes will be shown to the public.
