Justyna Scheuring is a visual artist born in Poland and since 2007 based in London. She received her MFA with distinction at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan, Poland. In 2010 she received her MA in Performance Making at Goldsmiths. She has been involved in public display - performance and poetry, which has been informed by ongoing critique through research, group activity and participatory workshops.
When I create a performance I see it as a sculpture pooled together and co-created by a space, the objects and people; and composed like a music piece or a poem? with respect to the time and rhythm. As a performer I am a source of motion for causing presence. Every presence performs. I am intrigued in how a body functions in the presence of other bodies and in variable tensions associated with this confrontation. This tension has an impact on the way all the bodies participate in an event. photo: Andy Lee, Jezz Bowden
