Milijana Babic (born 1974) is a freelance artist living in Rijeka, Croatia. She completed her studies in fine arts in South Africa and a master's degree in Slovenia. Initially, she practiced as a sculptor, working on installations, performances, action ... She is a long-term collaborator of the Festival of the City of Women in Ljubljana and works as an assistant lecturer at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka. She has presented her works at many festivals and events in Croatia, Europe and South Africa.
The starting point of my work is my own position as an individual and artist in a society that doesn't care about the individual and doesn't need artists. Personal efforts and challenges become the leaven of various projects that take my presence more and more into account. Ambiguity, irony and aesthetic minimalism are constantly present in my works while public space remains my favorite studio / exhibition venue.
