Janusz Bałdyga

(born in 1954 in Lublin) performer, creator of installations. He studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He obtained his diploma in 1979 in the studio of prof. Stefan Gierowski, annex in the studio of prof. Roman Owidzki. Co-founder and member of the “Pracownia” creative group (1976-81). Since 1979 he has been cooperating with Akademia Ruchu. Since 2009, he has been running the Performance Art Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (currently the University of Arts in Poznań). In art, Janusz Bałdyga deals mainly with performance-type activities. He developed his original character of artistic statements, in which he consistently reduced language and means of articulation, creatively using simple elements to create elementary structures - a line, a circle, a rectangle, a point. Bałdyga uses the concept of "marked places", in which the sense of space and its conditions as well as the dynamics brought by human presence are of great importance.
