Ewa Zarzycka

DSCF0036A performance artist. He also creates films, sound recordings, drawings and installations. The main part of its activity is keeping notebooks, a kind of notebooks and journals, about which Zbigniew Warpechowski wrote: There is art history, art criticism, comments, reflections, reflections, letters to friends, jokes, prose and poetry and I don't know what else.

She was born in Szczecin. She graduated from the State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Lublin. She studied graphics at the State College of Fine Arts in Wrocław (now the Academy of Fine Arts). Since 2008, she has been associated with this university, where she has been teaching performance art since 2009. A scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. He lives in Lublin and in Kazimierz Dolny on the Vistula River.

Ewa Zarzycka makes a speech performance. As commented by Grzegorz Borkowski: For her numerous speeches and productions [?] an intriguing essay can be formulated that combines seriousness and intellectual inquisitiveness with an attitude of ironic distance. The works of Ewa Zarzycka are difficult to comprehend and comment on. It is a process of thinking in dialogue with others and openness to what is happening. In Zarzycka's understanding, creativity is inextricably linked with private life, meetings, events, travels and reading. It concerns the essence of art, but also the role of the artist, the characteristics of the creative process. Again, referring to Zbigniew Warpechowski, the works of Zarzycka it defies any definition, and at the same time it is integrated with her form, way of being, personality. Her stories are meandering, looping, getting lost and finding the plot, turning into other stories. The artist interweaves truth with fiction (just as likely). There is a lot of humor in her speeches, but also authenticity, honesty and disinterestedness.

The work of Ewa Zarzycka derives from Polish conceptual art. For many years, the artist was associated with the Labirynt Gallery in Lublin and BWA run by Andrzej Mroczek.

Her speech as part of the project? Grodzka 5? will be related to the personal history of the artist, related to Grodzka Street, where the Art School she graduated from, and the aforementioned galleries were located.
